Q: Can area emissions formatted for REMSAD v 6.4 be used as inputs for REMSAD v 7.02?

A: You can run REMSAD v 7.02 with the same area emissions files used for v 6.4, but there have been some changes,  particularly to the biogenic emissions.

Although emissions files for v 7.02 can include TOL and XYL in area sources, the new chemparam file does include a default aromatic fraction, so inclusion of TOL and XYL is not required.  (Note that it is necessary to use the new chemparam file with v 7.02.  Attempting to use an earlier chemparam file will cause errors and REMSAD will not run.)

The biogenic emissions for v 7.02 are now supposed to include the species TERP (monoterpenes) in addition to ISOP (isoprene).  It is still possible to run REMSAD v 7.02 with old biogenic emissions files that only have ISOP, but there will then be no biogenic secondary organic aerosols (SOA3 and SOA4) and ozone predictions may be somewhat different.

Q: What exactly is the parameter "mxxx" in parm.cmd? How is it different from "mxx"?

A: The parameter "mxxx" is the largest allowed value for either the "x" or "y" dimension in any of the grids, including the fine grids.  Thus, it is the largest of mxx, mxy, mxfx, and mxfy where mxx and mxy are the maximum x and y dimensions allowed in the coarse grid and mxfx and mxfy are the maximum x and y dimensions allowed in any of the fine grids.
